Yesterday afternoon my sister forwarded me an article about an automobile accident reported in the Redwood City Patch since she knew that my husband and I had eaten dinner at Don Picos on Saturday night. Our condolences go out to you, your family and all the employees of the restaurant as this must have come as a great shock to all of you. You are in out thoughts during this difficult times and we wish you the best as you try to recover from this sudden loss.
I am deeply saddened to hear about Isaac. I’ve been frequenting Don Picos since I moved to the bay area 15 years ago. Isaac always had a special way of making me feel like family. My thoughts and prayers are with the entire Mejia family. I’m so sorry for your loss.
I am so sad and shocked to hear that Don Pico passed away. I worked with him @ 1010 AM for a couple of years and he always made me laugh with his humorous personality. My condolences to his family and friends and may he rest in peace.
I travel to the Bay Area (from Seattle) for business, and some 12 years ago I made a wrong turn on my way back to the airport. It turned out to be the “right turn”; I spotted Don Pico’s.
I could tell there was something special about the place, but no time to stop. On my next trip down I made a point to visit. That is when I met Isaac, and first enjoyed what he and his family had created.
Ever since then, I visit whenever possible. I became famous for carrying out extra orders to take home to Seattle.
Even if I could not get there for over a year, Isaac always remembered me and greeted me with his incredibly warm smile.
I feel blessed that I was able to see him twice in August. I will miss him dearly.
I am so sad my heart is broken, Isaac and I go way back catering and dancing…His heart was so big he always had a smile one of the best cooks around..what a great family! He gave me my business name and helped me start a espresso bar I will always be thankful…
Familia Mejia,
R deepest condolences 2 the family, the benevolent Lord needed a great Chef in paradise, so when we pass we will have access to not just a menu of Mexican delights but a potpourri of Isaac’s sauces and innovative recipes.
We will miss ur smile and friendship Isaac.
God bless Lucy, Francesca and Isaacs’ family.
